Child Safety Week is the Child Accident Prevention Trust’s (see below) flagship annual community education campaign, raising awareness of serious childhood accidents and how to prevent them, without wrapping children in cotton wool.
Their free resources act as a catalyst for thousands of fun and engaging local activities and events which reach families UK-wide.
And Child Safety Week has a real impact. Last year, awareness of Child Safety Week among parents hit an all-time high of 31%. In 2012, one in eight parents surveyed made their children safer from serious accidents as a direct result of the Week.

Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) is the UK’s leading charity working to reduce the number of children and young people killed, disabled or seriously injured in accidents.
They exist because accidents are a leading cause of death and serious injury for children and young people – and because many of these accidents can be prevented.
They want children to lead active, healthy lives – not ‘wrapped in cotton wool’. Children need to experiment, play and take risks. But there’s a balance to be struck. No parent wants their child disabled or killed in an accident that can be prevented.
They help people and organisations understand the real risks to children’s safety. And help them gain skills in managing those risks, so families and communities can help keep children and young people safe from serious injury.
